The Draw plate Ep came into being in an interesting way. It began in 2011 as an experimental work composed on a laptop at a service center where Joshua would stop once a week to refuel and eat on his four hour drive to teach percussion in country NSW.
The Rhythms were extremely syncopated and composed via random cut and paste methods and the bass and synth tones were very raw, un-sculptured and with no real studio production methods employed.
Joshua was then introduced to a variety of techno and house artists that he found very inspiring. He was influenced by the recordings of artists Larry Heard, Kyle Hall, Theo Parrish, Funkineven, Gifted and Blessed, Gardland and Cassius Select to name but a few.
Draw Plate is an attempt to bring some of the original experimental compositions into a more groove and dance oriented context and create a musical experience one can dance to whilst being thought provoking and aurally exciting. Please Enjoy.
